As a marketer, he's a good barber
The local news in south Louisiana had to investigate when they received calls about this sign, parked in front of a local barber shop:
The proprieter of the barber shop, Herb Leger, says it's all a misunderstanding:
"It's not that I don't want black people in the shop. It's just that I'm not qualified to give them professional service" ... Leger says he's inexperienced and not trained to cut black hair. "Completely different way of cutting hair. It's not the same," he says.
That's true, but ... I don't know, could you be just a little more tactful with your language Herb -- that is, if you're telling the truth?
It looks like Mr. Leger is in need of some serious help with the English language.
On the other hand, we should view this as a positive story because of the outrage it has provoked.
Fifty years ago, there were thousands of signs like this one all across the South, and no one blinked an eye. Today, a lone sign merits national news coverage.
That is progress.
