After months of rumors concerning the apparent leader of the Iraqi terrorists, Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi, US and Iraqi officials are in agreement that he probably was wounded in the recent Operation Matador assaults on known terrorist strongholds.
According to reports, Al-Zarqawi was wounded in the chest and admitted to a local hospital. But his handlers, fearing for his safety amid a heavy presence of US forces, snatched him from doctor's care soon after he received emergency treatment. He may have been smuggled out of the country.
I'm optimistic that he will be caught sooner or later, and hopefully caught alive. But it would be my luck that just as soon as I learn to correctly and consistently spell his name, he'll be killed.
