Michelle Malkin is reporting that Fidel Castro may be dead.
Actually, the reports indicate that Fidel "temporarily" turned over leadership of Cuba to his brother Raul, in anticipation of a short hospital stay. But of course we all know how those "temporary" and "brief" bouts with ill health usually turn out for aging dictators.
Perhaps we shouldn't be speculating, though. After all, Cuba has world-class free health care for all its citizens. I'm sure that Fidel is now resting comfortably.
We can all hope that he will soon be resting in peace.
Babalu Blog is probably the best place for updates as this story developes. Val Prieto is reporting:
Let's all keep in mind that this "transition" has not taken place overnight. The Cuban government have slowly been weening the Cuban people of fidel castro for weeks now, publishing numerous articles and editorials in Granma, Prensa Latina, and all other government news sources, getting the public ready for the change in leadership.
