My real home team, the Port Neches-Groves Indians, finished Texas District 22-4A football with a 6-0 record. They'll head into the first round of the Division 4A state playoffs this Friday, Nov. 9, against Dayton.
Note to OU Sooners fans -- here's how to measure true loyalty:
Large crowds have become synonymous with PN-G games. During the high school football playoffs, it's common to see crowds of 20,000 to 30,000 dedicated Indian fans at a game. Record attendances include the all-time Texas high school record and national high school record of 49,953 at Texas Stadium for the 1977 State Championship game against the Plano Wildcats.
The Indians also hold the top high school attendance records for the Houston Astrodome. The 1999 4A State Championship game drew a crowd of 39,000 with 34,000 PN-G fans filling half of the Dome.
SCALP 'EM INDIANS!!!

A bit of a correction: the Dayton game was actually the District 22-4A championship, not the first round of the state playoffs. PN-G was defeated by Dayton and as a result, will share a 3-way district championship with Dayton and Lumberton; each team finished district with a 6-1 record.
PN-G's first playoff game is tonight, Nov. 16, against the Galena Park Yellowjackets. You can catch the game live through the Internet simulcast of Cool 92 FM.
